XR Virtual Production Solution

XR Virtual Production Solution

The LED display XR virtual shooting solution combines LED giant screens with extended reality (XR) technology to provide an innovative solution of "real-time virtual scene presentation + real shooting synchronization and integration" for film, variety shows, live broadcasts, and other scenarios.

1. Core Principle

Using a high-definition, high-refresh-rate LED giant screen as a "virtual background wall," virtual scenes (such as cyberpunk cities, space capsules, natural landscapes, etc.) are generated through real-time rendering engines (like UE, Blender) and displayed synchronously on the LED screen. During filming, actors stand in front of the LED screen, and the virtual scenes are integrated in real-time with real people and props, enabling images with environmental light and shadow interaction without the need for post-production keying, greatly simplifying the production process.

2. Key Technical Configuration

LED Screen Characteristics

Using small-pitch LEDs (pixel pitch ≤ P1.5) ensures delicate, grain-free images even at close shooting distances; high refresh rate (≥7680Hz) + high contrast ratio (≥10000:1) prevents moiré patterns and motion blur during filming.

Supports curved, circular, and other surround installations (such as 360° circular screens + top dome screens) to build immersive virtual spaces and enhance actors' sense of immersion.

Real-time Rendering and Tracking

Equipped with professional graphics workstations and tracking systems (such as motion capture and camera tracking) to calculate camera position and angle in real-time, synchronously adjusting the virtual scene perspective on the LED screen to ensure "perspective matching" (e.g., when the camera moves, the virtual scene changes naturally like a real environment).

Light and Shadow Interaction

The LED screen's self-illumination serves as the shooting environment light, and the virtual scene's lighting and shadows (such as sunset, lamps) can realistically project onto actors and props, replacing traditional lighting and making the image more realistic.

3. Core Advantages

  • Efficiency Improvement: Eliminates post-production keying and compositing steps, allowing finished footage to be obtained directly during shooting, shortening the production cycle by over 30%.
  • Strong Realism: Virtual scene lighting and shadows naturally blend with real objects, solving the problem of "actor-background disconnection" in green screen shooting.
  • Cost Optimization: Reduces costs of physical set construction and extensive post-rendering, especially suitable for reusable virtual scenes (such as fixed scenes in sci-fi films).
  • Good Interactivity: Actors can directly see the virtual environment, enhancing performance immersion; directors can monitor the final effect in real-time, facilitating on-site adjustments.

4. Typical Applications

  • Film Shooting: Virtual scenes for sci-fi and fantasy films (such as alien bases, ancient palaces) replace physical set construction or green screens.
  • Variety Show Live Broadcasts: Dynamic backgrounds for galas and talk shows (such as virtual stages, real-time data visualization) enhance visual layers.
  • Advertising Production: Quickly switch virtual scenes for product displays (such as snowy mountains, cities), reducing venue costs.

This solution, through the synergy of "hardware + rendering + tracking," redefines the imaging production process and becomes a core technical solution for improving efficiency and quality in film and live broadcast fields.
